Hello, passionate cruisers! This is Paul. I am delighted to welcome this week on The Joy of Cruising Podcast, Michele Edington, Certified Sommelier, Wine Writer, and Founder, Cruising With Wine. Michele told me, “I created Cruising With Wine with my dad recently as a stop-by-stop wine guide for European river cruises. It helps travelers understand what to drink in each destination before they arrive, including local wines to try, grapes and wine terms to look for, food pairings, bottles worth bringing home, and wine experiences near the port. The idea came from him booking a river cruise with my mom and noticing that river cruises pass through some of the most exciting wine regions in Europe, but most people still step off the ship without much practical guidance on what to order, what to look for, or what makes that stop special from a wine perspective.”

Michele worked in wine and hospitality for more than a decade, is a certified sommelier, and has spent years helping people feel more confident about wine in a real-world, approachable way. Cruising With Wine is her way of bringing that same kind of guidance to river cruisers.
